Seven top reasons why you should not give up
There are so many terrible and ugly things that happen to us in this life and they leave people devastated, shattered, disappointed, hurt, depressed, and discouraged. It is so painful when dreams and aspirations are shattered. Dreams must be nourished until they come true.
It is really unacceptable when purpose fades away like a morning dew when the sun rises. It is a tragedy when people succumb to the pressures of life. It is a wave of anguish and sorrow when people give up their dreams, their lives, their marriages, their businesses, their relationships, their career etc.
May be you are under a very serious pressure at work that you think of resigning. The only good option that you see is giving up. Giving up must never ever be your option.
Is it a noble act to choose to give up? Is it commendable to be moved by what you feel instead of what you believe? Is it acceptable to quit pursuing your goals? The answer to all these questions is big NO!
Allow me to take you through seven top reasons why you should not dare give up.
1. You are unique and special
You may be tempted to give up your dream, your goal, your job, your marriage, etc. You may be having convincing reasons why should give up. Have you ever figured out how special you are? If not, look at yourself in the mirrow and see how unique you are. There is no any other person like you on earth. That is why you are so special, see?
If you can focus on how special you are, you will have no reason to give up that unique dream. You have unique talents, unique skills and expertise, therefore you make a unique contribution to that company, that department or that organization. Don't give up until the whistle of victory is blown against all your obstacles.
2. You were born for special purpose
Have you ever asked yourself why you are here on earth? God has created you for a special purpose, therefore you need to discover what that purpose is. If you were born for a special purpose, why then do you intend giving up that special dream?
I don't deny the fact that the current circumstances don't allow you to believe that you can reach that goal. It looks impossible to reach now. As a result, you are under pressure to give up. May be you want to change your career. You feel it so intensely that your current career is not want you want to pursue anymore. But you feel like it will be a mountain to climb to pursue the career that you want. You are now on the verge of giving up. May be that career that you want to pursue now is the purpose for which you were born. Why don't you go for it?
The reason why you should not give up is that you were born for a special purpose. If you give up, you will die without having fulfilled your potential or purpose on earth.
3. You have the potential to make things happen
Do you have an idea of the potential you have to make things happen? You wonder why other people make things happen. Those people have the idea of the potential they have. What you need to do is to discover your potential and make it a reality.
You need focus on unlocking the potential you have instead of focusing on that thought that tells you to give up your dream. You will never know how much difference you can make until you take action about your dream or goal.
If you have the will and the passion to make your dream a reality, then you don't have the valid reason to give up.
4. You have not kissed your goal as yet
I have seen how sports men celebrate when they have reached their goal of winning championship. They kiss the medal, the cup or the trophy. They express how it feels like to win a championship. If you are soccer fan, have you seen how Ghana under 20 national team celebrated when they reached a goal of being the first African country to win the under 20 world cup? I have. They kissed the golden cup with the excitement.
You don't have a reason to give up that special dream or goal, simply because you have not yet kissed your goal. If you have not yet reached your goal, you stand a chance to go for it until you reach and kiss it with excitement.
Don't give up until you kiss your dream or goal. You will get there. All that you need to do is to believe, hope and focus on your dream or your goal. Don't you want to know how it feels like to kiss your goal? I know you desperately want to know how it feels like to reach your dream or your goal. The question to you is why do you want to give up?
Can you see that you don't have a good reason to give up? I see you nodding your head in agreement with me saying, "yes I can see I don't have a good reason to give up and I won't give up no matter what."
5. You don't have to compare yourself with other people
One of the reasons why many people are under pressure to give up is that they compare themselves with their peers. Don't ever compare yourself with other people. If your socioeconomic status, your financial status or your academic status is not at the same level with that of your peers, don't be hard on yourself.
Remember that our first reason that you must not give up is that you are unique and special. There is therefore no need for you to compare yourself with your peers.
Do your things one step at a time, believe in yourself and move according to your own pace. This will enable you to overcome obstacles one at a time until you arrive at your destiny. I want you to always remember that success is a process that goes through stages.
The problem with comparing yourself with others is that you don't know what it took your peers to be where they are today. You don't know the obstacles they had to surmount, the sacrifices they had to make to be where they are today. Of course, there are those who took shortcuts in the form of bribery, immorality, diamond smuggling, drug dealing, fraud and corruption and other devious means to be where they are today.
Use the little resources you have now to reach your goal. It will take much of hard work for you to be where you are passionate to be. There is no shortcut to success. The road that leads to success is rocky and thorny. Few people travel on it. Don't you want to be one of those who are on this road to success? If yes, don't give up.
6. God loves you
The sixth reason why you should not give up is that God loves you more than the way you can ever imagine. May be you don't like God for your own reasons. But I have realized that God is the main reason why I did not give up when I was tempted to do so. I felt His love going through out my entire life. I felt His love because I believed that He loves me.
God is your creator, He doesn't like it when you give up. You may give up on yourself but God will never ever give up on you because He cares about you. If God doesn't want you to give up, why do you want to give up?
Don't give up on the dream that God inspired in you to fulfil. Remember always that God loves you and it must be on this basis that you must not dare give up.
7. The inerasable mark must be created
The final reason why you should not dare give up is that there is a mark that you must aspire to create and leave for the next generation.
What kind of legacy do you want to leave for your next generation? Is it a legacy of giving up on your dream, or it is a legacy of reaching your goals? Think about it.
You have a dream to be a CEO, a head of department, manager, senior manager or director in your organization, but things look impossible to the eye. Don't focus on how tall the mountain is to climb, but focus on how much energy and motivation you need to climb the mountain. If you feel like your energy is ebbing away, do whatever good thing it takes to gather more energy. If it demands you to study more, go ahead and do so. If it demands you to hire a coach, do so.
You have to sacrifice your money, your time and energy to create a mark that will be remembered by the next generation. let the passion to create and leave inerasable mark for the next generation be the reason why you should not give up.
Conclusion
You may be in a situation that dictates you to give up, don't give in nor give up because of the dictates of that situation. You will come out victorious. The former Prime Minister of England, Winston Churchill emphatically said, "Never give up, never give up, never give up." You don't have a reason strong enough to give up your special dream or goal.
