The high price of success in life

Every person wants to succeed in any endevour of life. Companies, businesses, entrepreneurs, organizations and people from all walks of life desire to see success manifesting from all directions and corners. Success is as sweet as a honeycomb, it brightens the future and it gives people the reason to greet everyday with a smile.

Success is defined in many ways. What success could be to somebody it could not be to another person. What is success? Success is the process of achieving desired goals and fulfilling dreams on the basis of abiding by proper principles and morals. You cannot separate success from right principles and morals. Successful people in life are those who have achieved great results on the account of living a principle-oriented life.

Success has price tags, it is not cheap. It is a series of making sacrifices in order to reach where one desires to be. Let us have a closer look and analysis of the price tags attached to success.

1. Enthusiasm price tag

Look at successful people like Billy Gates, Warren Buffet, Patrice Motsepe, Nelson Mandela and others. What is it that inspired them to succeed? Is it luck? I don't think so. All these people had passion burning within them to succeed. Success starts with the desire within an individual. Nobody can succeed by accident, it all starts with enthusiasm, passion and desire to achieve something valuable in this life.

2. Attitude price tag

Attitude determines either success or failure in life. Positive attitude sets people in the right direction towards success while negative attitude drives people in the wrong direction towards failure and destruction.

Former American President, Thomas Jefferson said, “Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong attitude.” A man or a woman with a positive attitude can boldly say, "It does not matter what happens to me, it is what happens within me that matters to me."

3. Diligence price tag

Success dines at the same table with those who are always willing to work hard. Successful people have a good work ethic. They redouble their efforts to achieve goals. Their focus is on the prize ahead. They keep their eyes fixed on the ahead that is ahead of them--success.

4. Association price tag

Who you associate with in life will either determine success or failure in your life. It matters most who your associates are. They will either make you or break you. If you are going to succeed in any aspect of your life, you are going to surround yourself with positive people.

You cannot succeed in life if you are rubbing shoulders with failures. You need good influence to achieve your goals under the sun. Negative influence will result in you failing to be where you desire to be in life. Successful people have good associates who exude good influence upon them.

5. Self-discipline price tag

Success comes as a result of self-discipline. Self-discipline is the process of subordinating today's pleasure for a greater long-term good. It is about giving up something today in order to gain something precious than gold in the future.

Disciplined people succeed in life because they don't throw themselves into the jaws of the whim of the moment. They are driven by what they want to achieve.

6. Goal setting price tag

Success cannot be realized if clear and achievable goals are not set. Successful people know exactly what they want to achieve and they know what it takes to achieve goals. There are obstacles and storms that rage on the road to success. It takes a person who has set a goal to muster strength and courage to overcome obstacles and weather the raging storms until he or she reaches the goal.

Goal is a powerful force that makes the impossible possible. Shad Helmsetter stated, "It is the goal that shapes the plan; it is the plan that sets the action; it is the action that achieves the result; and it is the result that brings success. And it all begins with the simple word goal".

7. Follow-through price tag

Successful people don't only set goals, they commit themselves to achieving the goals they set. They pursue their goals until they are a reality. They don't rest nor give up until their goals are fulfilled. Where there is no sense of follow-through or commitment, goals will ebb away and evaporate into the atmosphere of failure and regrets.

8. Resilience price tag

It takes people who have the guts to bounce back after a setback to succeed in any aspect of life. People who are successful in this life went through terrible things that knocked them down. They didn't remain down, they rose up and continued running the race until they reached the winning line.

It is so unfortunate that there are people who allow setbacks of life to keep them down in the dumps. It takes resilience to bounce back from a terrible experience. Success is for those who are willing to rise up when they happen to fall into the pit of hostile circumstances and situations and continue pursuing the worthwhile goal until they lay hold of it.
